What OssFin is

OssFin is a personal finance app that brings your accounts, spending, investments and documents into one view, and estimates your taxes from the figures you provide. It explains and computes; it does not tell you what to do with your money. OssFin is not an investment adviser, and nothing in the app is investment, tax or legal advice. For decisions about your own situation, speak with a licensed professional.

Getting started

Try the demo first

Select Open Demo on the home page to explore the app on sample data. No account is needed, and the demo stores nothing.

Create an account

Select Continue with Google to sign in. Setup then walks you through these steps:

Free and paid plans

Free plan — Dashboard, Budget, Portfolio and Documents, built from documents you upload and accounts you enter yourself. A free account does not get live bank connections. Free accounts share one pool of 12 document uploads across every document type; once the pool is used, CSV files can still be imported.

Paid plans — everything in Free, plus the Tax Engine, live account connection through Plaid, and unlimited document uploads. All paid plans include the same features. A free trial may be offered when you choose a paid plan; the trial terms are shown before you confirm.

For current prices, see Pricing in the app.

Areas of the app

Dashboard

Your net worth across every account you have added, with assets and liabilities shown together.

Budget

Your transactions, sorted into categories, with recurring charges detected. You can set optional email reminders before bills you track come due. Savings goals live here too: set a target, record what you have put aside, and see the monthly amount it implies. Goals are free.

Portfolio

A breakdown of your investment accounts and holdings, asset allocation, and equity compensation. Holdings come from a connected account (paid plans), an uploaded statement, or manual entry. Crypto holdings are entered manually and priced automatically each day.

Documents

Upload bank, credit card and investment statements and other financial documents. Accepted formats are PDF, PNG, JPG and CSV, up to about 7.5 MB per file. PDFs and images are read by AI to extract balances and transactions; CSV files go to a column-mapping importer instead. Free accounts have the 12-document pool described above. Whether the original file is kept is your choice at upload — see the Privacy Policy for how uploads are stored.

Tax Engine (paid plans)

A full-year estimate built from the income and inputs you provide: federal, state, FICA and self-employment tax; effective and marginal rates with bracket detail; and equity compensation (RSU, NSO, ESPP and AMT). It is an estimate only — OssFin does not prepare or file tax returns, and the figures are not tax advice.

Adding your accounts

Some accounts cannot be linked through Plaid. Apple Card and Apple Savings cannot be connected by account aggregators; the app includes a guide for adding them by statement or by balance. Crypto is tracked by entering your holdings manually.

You can see, reconnect and remove linked institutions in Settings → Linked Accounts.

Your data

Your data is stored encrypted and is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising. Read more in the Privacy Policy, the Security overview, and how OssFin uses AI.

Billing

Upgrade from Settings → Billing & Plan, or from See plans on a locked tab.

Cancel from Settings → Billing & Plan. Nothing changes until your current paid period ends. You then choose one of two outcomes:

Troubleshooting

A connected account says "Reconnect needed"

The bank needs you to sign in again before it shares new data. Open Settings → Linked Accounts and select Reconnect beside the institution, or use the reconnect banner at the top of the app.

My upload was rejected

Check the format (PDF, PNG, JPG or CSV) and size (about 7.5 MB maximum). On the free plan, once the 12-document pool is used, only CSV files can be added.

My tax estimate looks wrong

The estimate uses only what you have entered. Check your state, filing status and income in Settings → Taxes & Income — if the About step was skipped, these may be missing.

A tab shows a lock

The Tax Engine is part of the paid plans. On the free plan the tab shows what it includes and a See plans button.

I can't connect my bank on the free plan

Live account connection is a paid-plan feature. On the free plan, add accounts by uploading statements, importing a CSV, or entering them manually.

I can't find Apple Savings, Apple Card or my crypto exchange

These cannot be linked through Plaid. Add Apple accounts with the in-app guide, and enter crypto holdings manually.

I can't sign in

OssFin sign-in uses your Google account. Choose the same Google account you signed up with. If sign-in still fails, email support.
